Aura Gazing

An aura is defined as the distinctive atmosphere that surrounds and seems to be generated by a person, place or thing. A form of meditation that may take practice, but is also a lot of fun! I recommend keeping a journal to keep track of progress and findings to compare later.

One way to begin practicing is to pull up the color wheel on your phone. Pick two colors opposite of each other; such as, orange and blue. Place a bright orange object against a blue table cloth, painting or piece of paper. The difference in the contrast will help you find the light or the aura. The aura radiates about 1” off of an object. Take a deep breath and relax. Stare at the object. Relax your forehead and drop your shoulders. This is called gazing. With time and practice you will begin to see a thin line of color illuminate around the object, this is the aura.

Once you are comfortable with gazing using objects and want to advance to people, I suggest using your self first. While sitting in your bathtub, place either foot against the white surface of the tub. Gaze at your foot and enter the meditative state. Do you notice a thin line around your foot? Take note of the color and keep track in your journal.

After you have mastered gazing at your foot, ask a loved on to stand against a neutral colored wall. Gaze at your friend or family member and take note of any color surrounding your friend.

The aura colors are will blend and intermingle, they are as follows:

  • Red: Well-grounded, energetic, strong-willed, passionate, strong, courageous, ambitious, leader

    • Pink: Affectionate, loving, optimistic, happy, bubbly, playful, sweet, feminine, sentimental

    • Magenta: Eccentric, unique, innovator, free-spirited, self-assured, bold, big heart, creative, dramatic

  • Orange: Adventurous, thoughtful, considerate, confident, creative, risk taker, social, energetic, original

  • Yellow: Creative, relaxed, friendly, bright, optimistic, kind, playful, happy, logical, expressive, sunshine

    • Tan: Practical, detail-oriented, logical, cautious, committed, reliable, gentle, observer, comfort

  • Green: Social, communicator, nurturing, compassionate, loving, dedicated, successful, focused, assertive, smart, balanced, adaptable, growing

    • Turquoise: Friendly, positive, uplifting, calm, selfless, serene, comforting, natural healer, problem solver, self-expressive

  • White: Rare, wise, pure, spiritual, highly intuitive, enlightened, connection to the divine, healer

It is important to note that your aura changes color and needs regularly cleansed. In addition, you actually have seven layers to your aura, each corresponding with a different chakra! Take a look at the layers below:

Etheric/physical (Root Chakra): This is the layer we can learn to see, connected to the physical body, 5 senses, comfort and health.

  • Emotional (Heart Chakra): Emotional layer, where physical human experience connects with emotion and gains context.

  • Etheric Template/Lower Mental (Solar Chakra): Intellect, where thought and reason reside

  • Astral/Higher Mental (Sacral): Emotional Intelligence

  • Conceptual/Spiritual (Throat): Connection over spiritual matters

  • Celestial/Intuitional (Third Eye): Awareness of instinct/intuition

  • Ketheric/Absolute (Crown): Net of each layer, maintains the balance

How can you cleanse your aura? You can cleanse a few ways and feel free to explore and modify to your own personal needs.

  • Affirmations

  • Meditate/Visualizations

  • Smudge

  • Energy balance/healing
