Crystal Cleansing
Crystals interact with our body’s energy fields, they redirect and channel an energy flow with their unique vibrations assisting in unblocking any stuck energy we have or enhancing the energy we desire. Cleansing crystals allows you to recharge their original energy and removing any energy that may have transferred when doing work. There are a few ways you can cleanse your crystals, but there are exceptions to certain crystals being negatively effected by certain ways of cleansing which is why I created this blog to help you learn to choose the right way for your unique crystal.
Running water: Water will neutralize any negative energy stored inside the stone. A natural spring is best, but many of us do not have that luxury so any clean water will do. Make sure your stone is completely covered in water for about one minute and thoroughly pat dry.
Use this method for: Hard stones (ex: Diamond, Jade, Topaz, Tigers Eye, Aquamarine, Amethyst or Quartz)
Do NOT use this for brittle stones (ex: Selenite, Onyx, Moonstone, Obsidian, or Opal)
Brown Rice: Said to draw out and absorb negativity like water and a cell phone. Has extra benefits for protective stones. Fill a bowl with dry brown rice and bury the crystal completely. Leave for 24 hours and dispose of the rice preferred message is the outside garbage! (I personally love this method)
Use this method for: Any stone!
Natural Light: This can be done at any time; however, there are certain times around the lunar cycle that may increase the energy. As the sun sets, place your crystals outside (in the dirt for extra bonus points) and bring them back into the home around early morning giving the crystals to both soak in sunlight and moonlight. Too long in the elements can weather the surface so be mindful of the length of time exposed. You can either rinse quickly or wipe any access dirt with a dry towel if needed.
Use this method for: Hard and less vibrant stones
Do NOT use this method for: Soft stones or vibrant stones like Amethyst
Sage: One of my favorite methods. Just like your space, smudging can clear out the negative vibrations and restore its energy and balance. If you are inside please make sure windows are open to allow the negative energy to escape. Light the sage and in the other hand move your crystal through the smoke. Allow the smoke to touch every part of the crystal for about 30-45 seconds. (Please be mindful while playing with any form of fire)
Use this method for: Any stone
Sound: This method is a lesser common form, but effective nonetheless. Sound healing allows the pitches or tone to wash over an area bringing the same vibration as the sound. Common tools are tuning forks, singing bowls or bells. The sound does need to be loud to fully encompass the sound. About 5 to 10 minutes should be efficient.
Use this method for: Any stone
A Larger Stone: Quartz, amethyst geodes and selenite slabs are widely used for smaller stones. Simply place the smaller ones on top of them and allow the vibrations to soak up any of the unwanted energies. After you use this method for a 24 hour period, make sure to cleanse the larger stone.

Breath Work: Another simple and effective way of cleansing. Simply hold the stone in your dominant hand, focus on the intention or energy’s you are wishing to restore, inhale through your nose and exhale onto the stone. It is said short forceful exhalations work the best like you are trying to start a fire in the woods. About 30 seconds for breath work for each crystal is enough.
Use this method for: Small stones
